What's This/Who's Here and Who's Who

A brief explanation: This is a fantasy musebox with a classic fairy tale setting. Characters are AU'd into the setting - no canon jumping here! However, they can be anyone you'd like, so feel free to make the events of whatever canon or AU or other story they're already from fit the fantasy setting. It's a super-open setting, low-tech and high-magic, so feel free to have anything happen or build up - specifics will develop as players develop them. Feel free to build up your own epic plots and stories - this is a place where many fairy tale intersect and overlap.

All characters are allowed! Doubles, OCs, whatever, just so long as they're AU'd into the setting. They can be AU'd in, or recreated completely, whatever way you'd like. Normal farmer? Knight? Magic user? Magic user? Magical creature? Go wild with this - just keep in mind where your character is in relation to others. Some characters will live in an area that's friendly to magic users and creatures, others will live in more hostile areas. Travel is, of course, possible for everything, and there could be magical channels of long-distance communication. I just ask that you keep in mind what values your character may have been raised with and where they might be at any time.

Of course, I'm not really a stickler about those kinds of things, and we're all here to have fun. If you really want your character to interact with a character they realistically wouldn't be able to get to easily and there are no other ways, go ahead and make some pesky NPC fairies whisk them away and that's where they end up. When you need a handwave, blame it on pesky NPC fairies.

You all should know the standard rules - be nice, don't godmod, have fun. And if you want to take things somewhere above a PG13 rating, take it off-comm as well.

That said, I'd also like to use this post as a "cast list" of sorts. Tag here with your character's journal and give us a little blurb about who they are and how they fit into this world! Include anything that seems relevant. Maybe just a list of powers, maybe a little detail on where they live, maybe a brief history? Just give the rest of us something to use for plotting purposes. You can also leave a method by which to contact you for plotting purposes, as well. A few sentences to a few paragraphs, just whatever you feel like giving us.

Red was left as a baby on the doorstep of a couple who believed their newborn had just died. They took him in and named him Red for his deep (and strange) crimson eyes. The village he lives just outside of was always suspicious of magic, and they don't like Red. Rumors abound that he's a demon or a curse, but there's no proof. His parents died some time ago in a terrible hunting accident and the villagers have only grown more hostile since, so he tends to avoid going into town as much as possible.

He doesn't know he isn't human. He's never been able to speak. He's telepathic, though only animals and some magic users can hear him. His eyes are bright red and slightly hypnotic. He heals faster than a normal human and ages far, far slower. Animals of all kinds love him.

Kirino Ranmaru - magic user (Amber)

Kirino Ranmaru is something of an enigma. The only facts known about him are that he's a magic user and that he has a small cottage in a forest. He's well-renown and rumors constantly fly around about him. Some claim he can cure any illness, dispel any curse, and see into the souls of others.

Nobody's exactly sure how much of it's true, but he does have a way with undoing dark magic.

Lyra Altberg - princess (Letty)

Lyra is the young and exuberant princess of a kingdom known for its prosperity and its military. She herself is quite popular among the people for being cheerful and generous, and is widely known for being a lover of stories. Any knight who comes to her with stories of his heroic deeds is sure to be richly rewarded.

Lyra dreams of being a knight, herself, but her father enforces a law that only men may serve in the royal army. She's been expressly forbidden from even learning to use a weapon. She revels in the stories of adventures she herself may not go on. Recently, however, Lyra has been sneaking down to the lower town in disguise. She's making preparations and planning to run away to become a wandering lady knight.

Kageyama Hikaru - runaway noble (Amber)

Once upon a time, there was an extremely sketchy dark wizard. This extremely sketchy dark wizard had a brother, a viscount, who married a lovely young woman and had a son. This son, Hikaru, was never allowed out of the home for fear that someone would recognize his name as the family of that dark wizard.

One day, Hikaru got sick of that and ran away. Good luck catching him in one place for too long.

Cole Eberling--Original Character--Shapeshifter (Mog)

Cole is an awkward and shy shapeshifter who's constantly moving around. He often has to steal to get by as his lack of pupils gives away what he is and most people don't trust shapeshifters. Mostly for good reason as those who don't hide themselves haven't been using their powers for anything good. His parents died when he was very young and he was raised by his older brother Evan, who suddenly vanished entirely when Cole was sixteen. Cole has been trying to find him ever since, mostly worried his brother's increasingly unstable mental health may cause him to do something terrible.

Ghaleon - Mazoku of many professions (Endless)

Ghaleon is the last of a tribe of Mazoku who had founded the magical city of Vane some thousand years prior. He usually sticks to the ruins just north of town and the forest beyond that, though at times he will disappear on long journeys. Despite his appearance, one of his primary jobs is in fact as a priest. Mostly he considers himself a mage, and will introduce himself as such if he does not think it will bring trouble.

Despite being kind of a jerk, he's got a massive soft spot for fairies and animals, and can't keep himself from assisting small children. Given his species, despite looking to be in his late 30s to early 40s, Ghaleon is actually 152.

Beatrice - or, as she's now known, "Beta" - was the crown princess of a rather obscure but still mighty kingdom. Though that all went down the drain when her brother murdered their father and framed her of the crime. She fled for her life because of it, got chased into a dangerous swamp that's known to kill its visitors and kind of... decided to live there after finding an abandoned cottage. She goes by "Beta" now as a way to escape her old name, and wanders into the neighboring town once in a while, but... yeah. Now she's a cynical swamp maiden who'd rather you please go away.

Also she has personality issues or something. Yeah.

Burn - Living Will-o'-the-Wisp (Amber)

A moody little fireball who sometimes looks like a boy. He's been the one watching over Beta since she turned up in his swamp. He led her to the abandoned cottage where she now lives and now serves as a caretaker to her.

He's a little impish and can be sort of a jerk, but he's got a good heart.

Dana "Dawn Rowan" Mythria - heiress to a lost kingdom (Letty)

Dana was the princess of a kingdom that outright persecuted magic and magic users of any and every kind. Naturally that earned the royal family a great many enemies. One was a powerful guild of mages who rose up with a vengeance when Dana was very young. They nearly killed her, but her mother, who had long abandoned magic for love, placed a curse on her that saved her life, a kind of curse that had been cropping up on children from time to time for many years. All of those children were condemned just as ruthlessly as mages. The kingdom toppled overnight.

Dana was found the next day at sunrise by a kindly old professor by name of Rowan, who took her in. Because the country is now run by the mages who destroyed her kingdom, and they're still hunting for her, Dana had to completely change her identity. She now uses the name Dawn Rowan as she searches for a way to restore her kingdom to its former glory (it's not very glorious at all under the rule of mages driven mad with power).

Naoto Shirogane - Squire with fairy ancestry (Amber)

In the kingdom where Naoto lives, a woman trying to become a knight is generally looked down upon. Being the current (and only) heir to the Shirogane family--a longstanding family of knights--Naoto isn't about to let that stop her. Currently a squire, she's pretending to be a boy in order to be taken seriously by her peers and her superiors.

She's a little older than she looks--fairy blood has slowed down her aging!

Sukuna 'Shirogane' (Shadow Naoto) - ... it's complicated (Amber)

Sukuna is the result of someone trying to place a curse on Naoto. The girl's fairy blood gave her a natural protection from certain types of magic, which made the curse go a little awry. Sukuna was the result. She's almost quite literally a shadow of her other self, shaped by suppressed thoughts that Naoto had pushed aside when she went off to become a squire. Despite a slightly (and just slightly) disarming, childish (sometimes) personality, she's not one to be underestimated. She possesses a curious sort of control over light and darkness that makes her more dangerous than first impressions imply...

Asuka Tachibana - Wizard from a distant land - (Silver Fox)

Asuka was born into a poor farming family. He showed the potential at an early age to become a wizard but his family couldn't afford the training. He stumbled upon an adventuring party and asked to travel with him while he learned how to control his powers. Through a lot of trial and error, some with hilarious side-effects, he mastered control over 8 jade obs he affectionately call his Treasure Balls and together they form the Eternity 8.

His power is infinite with finite capabilities. He can practically do anything with them, except change his fate as a wandering wizard at the age of 16.

Minako Kimura - Wandering Traveler (Amber--are you sick of me yet)

A long time ago, some sort of Cosmic Noodle Incident occurred. At the site of the incident, two children were present: a girl and a boy. The girl, Minako, grew up with the face of the little boy haunting her dreams and visions. With no destiny to speak of and a shattered psyche, she's set out to find the boy whose faced is burned into her memory.

Minato Arisato - Wayfaring Vagabond (Letty--last one for a bit I promise)

Speaking of that Cosmic Noodle Incident, the other child present was a little boy who, as a result, ended up with a shattered psyche and a destiny that was never his thrust upon him. He's an entire universe unto himself, and the various fragments of Minato's being are scattered through it. In the years since the cosmic noodle incident he's managed to recover enough of himself to seem normal, but he still has trouble connecting. He has no home or family as far as he's aware - he can't remember anything about the incident or anything before it. All he has is a memory of a little girl's face. He's currently searching for that girl, hoping she leads him to the answers he wants.

Tidus - Wandering Cursed Guy [Kururu]

So, for a while, a strange monsters keeps on coming from this once kingdom place. They send people to destroy it, the person vanishes, the monster returns.

Spoilers: The people who destroy the beast can only do it due to the help of a demon-like creature, who turns them into the next iteration. Last time, 12 years ago, Tiduses dad went on that journey and vanished. That left Tidus alone, but he don't curr, he don't like dad. He also had a twin brother, Shuyin, who drowned when they were both very young.

How does this relate to Tidus? Well, he went with a woman who wished to follow in her fathers footsteps to stop the monster from destroying their kingdom - and he was chosen to be the sacrifice, alongside her. He lost control, and killed her. Well, unless somebody brings her in. Then she's just maybe dead? Anyhow, Tidus is now the new Sinner. But something is different - he remained mostly human, and ran away from the kingdom. He's been on the run from himself for about 2 years.

He's basically a water elemental monster in a human skin. Keeps close to the ocean, and wishes he could have just done something different. Also, he was once a famous sportsman.

Kieran Pulver - Apothecary's son (Amber)

Honestly, there's absolutely nothing special about this kid. He's just the son of a rather well-known and successful apothecary who has some knowledge in the trade himself.

Koumei - Dragon (Amber)

She's a dragon. What else is there to say.

Okay, no, there's actually a little bit. Koumei's a benevolent dragon but she's not exactly the most fond of humans. She's more likely to take a liking to children and help them, but otherwise, it'd be necessary for humans to prove themselves or somehow otherwise gain her favor before she'll help them.

Nobody knows where the hell Tharja came from--okay, that's a lie, she knows exactly where she came from, but whether or not she'll tell remains to be seen.

She comes off as a rather cold and grim lady, and she's well-versed in all sorts of curses and hexes--enough so that she's sought out and paid to hex people for a living. Needless to say, it's more than likely a bad idea to cross her...

Victoria "Tori" Marie Crawford - wind mage, former noble (Lexi)

Where Tori's from, her family holds a high amount of influence. After her elder sister ran away from home, Tori was raised to be the head of the family upon her father either dying or handing the title off to her. She holds a high amount of resentment for her father after her mother died in an accident he could have prevented, and his decision to neglect her and her sisters (twins May and Elise) afterward. As such, she became the one who did her best to look after them.

Upon reaching the age of seventeen, she met a man who would change the current course of her life. Revealing himself to her privately as the dark wind mage Aero, he gave her little detail on said connection. However, he told her that if she were to stay in her homeland, he would wreck havoc upon it. At first she paid little mind to this--until she accidentally used wind magic. She then resolved to leave home, just as her older sister did, for the sake of protecting her sisters. Her childhood best friend, a boy from a fellow noble family named Jeb (who had discovered his own ability to use earth based magic), caught her on her way out of town with determination of going with her. Eventually she relented, and the two began their journey.

It's questionable whether Lucifer is a demon, a fallen angel, a dark sorcerer, or the embodiment of evil itself. In any case - he's existed through all known history, and has been linked to many catastrophes. His origins are shrouded in legend.

Only one thing remains clear: he's powerful. His dark power is immense and inexplicable, seemingly beyond anything else. He will make deals to share his power, but those come at a hefty price. Most areas have some ancient lore that warns against contact with him... But he's good at appearing to be something other than what he is.

Anyway, Robin. Not much to say about her as of yet. She woke up in the middle of a field with no memories, and was only able to recall her own given name after a few hours of thinking on the subject. She's got a keen eye for tactics, and isn't bad at magecraft or swordfighting either.

...The only problem is, where and when did she learn any of it?
